Couture at Copenhagen: Spotlight on Interior Design Meets Fashion

Nichelle and Art Hosley

A model struts down the runway in a white suit adorned with a pattern of bright flames. Three young girls strike poses for the camera, dressed in sharp blazers and sleek dresses. Flowy evening gowns share the stage with reflective neon gear and outfits repurposed from denim jeans – all worn by models representing a broad spectrum of ages, ethnicities, and body types.

These are just some of the scenes that unfolded at the most recent Interior Design Meets Fashion show at Copenhagen San Antonio on November 15, 2025. Created and produced by Nichelle Hosley, IDMF is a nonprofit that collaborates with designers and artists from the San Antonio area to put on fashion-themed events, with a portion of proceeds going to local charities.

For the past two years, Copenhagen’s San Antonio showroom has been the venue for the IDMF show. We thought it was the perfect opportunity to interview both Nichelle Hosley and Allison Galt (Store Manager of Copenhagen San Antonio) for a deeper dive into IDMF and the interaction between fashion and furnishings.

Origins

Hosley moved to San Antonio in 2004, carrying experience as a clothing boutique manager and nail salon owner. In San Antonio, she earned a degree in interior design and started her own interior design firm. IDMF was conceived in 2015 as the perfect confluence of two fields Hosley was deeply passionate about.

More than just a fashion show, IDMF also reflects Hosley’s desire to give back to her community. She states, “Each event uplifts local designers, creatives, and small businesses while incorporating a charitable component. Through fundraising, donations, and awareness-building, IDMF partners with nonprofits focused on youth, education, and community wellness.”

2025’s benefiting charity, Renew Room Redux, was especially meaningful. With a self-described mission to “support child survivors of sexual violence, physical abuse, or severe neglect by providing trauma-informed room renovations,” this organization is a testament to the healing power of thoughtful interior design.

The Perfect Venue

While attending an event at the Copenhagen store, Hosley was taken in by the beauty of the showroom and saw the potential for a collaboration. She spoke to Allison Galt, who was immediately on board. Galt says, “The excitement that a fashion show brings to this store really appealed to me. I could tell at first meeting with Nichelle that she and I would have incredible work synergy. Little did I know that it would become more like family!”

Both women emphasize the importance of all the preparation and behind-the-scenes work that goes into making the IDMF show a success. “IDMF stayed focused and intentional when it came to scheduling model calls, show rehearsals, and day of show events,” Galt explains. “We spent a lot of time in the months and days prior to the show making sure we had all the details covered, so we could be present and relaxed the day of the event.”

Two Worlds Collide

For both Hosley and Galt, the worlds of interior design and fashion are closely connected. This is especially true for Hosley, who currently serves as President for the Texas chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers.

“For me, fashion and interior design intersect through storytelling, self-expression, and the way we experience our spaces and form,” Hosley explains. “Both disciplines rely on color, texture, proportion, and craftsmanship to evoke emotion and communicate identity.”

Hosley’s wealth of experience in both fields has led her to develop a unified personal philosophy anchored in intentional design. She states, “I believe both fashion and interiors should be expressive yet functional, layered yet approachable, and reflective of the people and cultures they represent. When done well, they don’t just look beautiful, they make people feel seen, confident, and connected. That belief is the foundation of my work and the driving force behind Interior Design Meets Fashion.”

Galt can also speak to the way these two disciplines mesh for her as a Copenhagen manager, especially after meeting Hosley. “Working every day surrounded by beautiful furniture and wares has changed how I want to show up in my personal style,” she says. “The fabulous Nichelle Hosley always shows up looking like a million bucks, so I have really had to up my fashion game. I’ve learned a lot about how to dress certain body types, how to marry different styles, and how to pull it all together from IDMF.”

Personal Faves

When asked to pick her favorite looks from the most recent IDMF show, Hosley replies, “I’d have to say, the outfits I created. This is the first collection I have ever done and I’m pretty proud of it!”

Galt agrees, mentioning that she wasn’t aware Hosley had designed a collection until she saw the show itself and was surprised. “Nichelle’s fashion line really impressed me,” she says. “I’m in awe of her style and her dedication to IDMF, on top of all the other work she does. Incredible talent wrapped into an incredible human being.”

And Hosley’s favorite piece of Copenhagen furniture? “I’d have to say the Martin Sofa. I’m bound and determined it will be in my home very soon,” she states.

Galt, meanwhile, has a harder time choosing, but would ultimately select the Airport Bookshelf by Cattelan. “It’s a beautiful shelf system that can be customized to divide a space, elevate a small area, or change the whole look of a room. The possibilities are endless, and I love that!”

With innovative outfits showcased next to elegant furniture, IDMF and Copenhagen truly enjoy a symbiotic relationship. If you’re in the San Antonio area and have a passion for both fashion and furniture, consider attending an upcoming IDMF show and supporting their cause. Don’t forget to follow both IDMF and Copenhagen on social media for the latest updates. See you by the runway!
